Tips and Instructions for Deer & Rabbit MACE
- On top of applying directly to plants, consider spraying bushes, shrubs, etc. along the perimeter of your yard to discourage deer from entering.
- In the beginning, apply more heavily and frequently to deter active browsing.
- Consider spraying during the winter as a preventative measure. You can spray less as there is less foliage and roughly once per month. If you notice deer in the winter, they will likely be back in the spring.
- The best time to spray is at the beginning of each growing season. After a cold winter deer are eager to eat fresh growth.
- Pay attention to bird feeders as the seed may attract deer. Be aware of any neighbors potentially feeding deer as they may travel through your yard to get to an active food source.
- If your sprayer clogs: Always shake Nature’s MACE liquid products for a full 60 seconds prior to using to ensure the ingredients thoroughly mix. To prevent clogging, remove the spray head and rinse after each use. In a case where the nozzle clogs, submerge the bottle under warm water for 15 minutes, or hold the spray nozzle head under warm running water for 5 minutes until the sprayer resumes normal function. If it still does not work, try removing the filter located at the bottom of the spray nozzle. If after doing this your product still is not spraying, please contact us as you may have a defective nozzle, or it may still be clogged. We will happily send you a replacement and apologize for any inconvenience it causes.
Deer & Rabbit MACE Ready-to-Use Spray:
- Our Deer & Rabbit MACE Ready-to-Use Spray should be shaken vigorously before each use. Thoroughly spray directly to leaves, stems, flowers, and branches from all angles. Also apply along the plant’s perimeter. Apply until plant drips and leaves are wet
- Repeat application in 7 days. Thereafter once every month. Allow 20-30 minutes for the product to dry before watering. Avoid spraying when plants are wet with dew.
- To prevent deer rubbing, spray directly on the base of the plants and tree trunks. If you live in a heavily populated deer area you may need to apply more frequently. At first the product may have a slight smell but should dry odor free.
- This product is designed to change browsing behavior and train deer to stay away. Follow directions to prevent deer from returning. We recommend testing a small area of the plant prior to applying on a large scale as some plants are sensitive.
